Palazzo Baldeschi – PERUGIA
April 18, 2026 – November 1, 2026
Eight hundred years after the death of Saint Francis, the Perugia Foundation pays homage to the patron saint of Italy with an exhibition that reinterprets the saint’s spiritual and cultural legacy through the eyes of some of the most significant Italian and international artists of the 20th and early 2000s, including Alberto Burri, Emilio Isgrò, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Marina Abramović, Maurizio Cattelan, and many others.
Held in the spaces of Palazzo Baldeschi and curated by Costantino D’Orazio, the exhibition proposes a dialogue between contemporary art, spirituality, and territorial identity, aiming to connect the region’s historical heritage with the languages of the present.
The exhibition brings together works that address themes deeply rooted in the figure of Saint Francis: the harmonious relationship with nature, concern for the poor, dialogue between all creatures, and the search for an authentic dimension of existence. Through different languages and sensibilities, the artists reinterpret this legacy, demonstrating how the figure of the Saint continues to speak with extraordinary power to the contemporary world.
A project realized in collaboration with the Galleria Nazionale dell’Umbria and with loans from important institutions, it offers the public a new perspective on a central figure in universal culture.
