Whistleblowing: What it is and how it works

Whistleblowing is an effective tool for reporting wrongdoing such as corruption, fraud, mismanagement and violations that put public health, safety, human rights or the environment at risk. In Italy it is regulated by Legislative Decree no. 24/2023, which implements EU Directive 2019/1937 and introduces obligations for public and private entities.

Who can report?

Reports can be made by employees, contractors, suppliers, consultants, volunteers, interns, former employees and even job candidates, as long as the information comes from a work-related context.

What violations can be reported?

You can report suspected crimes or violations of administrative, accounting, civil or EU regulations. This does not include reports of a personal nature related to your employment contract.

How are reports managed?

A dedicated manager receives, analyses and verifies the reports, guaranteeing confidentiality and periodically communicating the outcome of the checks to the reporting person.

How to report

You can send reports via:

  • Private email: whistleblowing@butterfly-transport.eu
  • IT platform (preferred to ensure confidentiality).
Anonymous reports are accepted and treated with the same level of confidentiality.

Confidentiality and anonymity

The identity of the reporter is protected and cannot be disclosed without consent. Anonymous reports are accepted, but may limit verification.

External reports

If there is no follow-up to an internal report, it is possible to contact the National Anti-Corruption Authority (A.N.AC.), especially in the event of an imminent risk to the public interest. Further details are available on the website: anticorruzione.it.
