MAN, Nuoro
22 NOVEMBER 2024 – 9 MARCH 2025
The MAN Museum in Nuoro from 22 November 2024 to 9 March 2025 presents the exhibition “Una Szeemann. Scenafenomenica”, curated by Elisabetta Masala with a critical text by Juliette Desorgues.
Magic and mythology, classical tradition and archaic culture blend together in the research of the Swiss artist who experiments with materials with a highly expressive value in a choral tale with epic nuances. Divinities of the earth and the night, arcane symbols, beneficial properties of plants and ancient botanical wisdom permeate the work of Una Szeemann with mystery and, at the same time, ancestral memories, while the wild feeling of the woods takes shape in abstract but powerfully evocative forms. The project for the MAN is connected to the territory of Sardinia, to its ruggedness, to the legend of the Janas and to the archaeological persistence in the landscape, where nature itself sometimes seems to fossilize, to blend in with the stones and crests of the Supramonte.
